STEM Early High School aims to provide a small, student-centered school that meets individual needs through personalization, collaboration and a commitment to relevant learning experiences, positive relationships, and academic excellence.
As the proud STEM Sharks, we want to embody and exemplify the following characteristics:
Safe - Honesty - Accountability - Respect - Kindness - Supportive
Founded in 2012, STEM Early High School opened to approximately 100 sixth-grade students on the campus of Northern Vance High school. A decade later, STEM Early High School moved to its current location in the VCS Center for Innovation (former Henderson High School building).
Earning Cognia accreditation, STEM Early High School serves around 300 students each year. With a focus on project-based learning and intentional STEM career exposures, this inclusive, specialized STEM school mimics the early college model of providing scholars with early access to advanced coursework. The sixth- and seventh-grade core math and ELA course content are compacted, and the Spanish elective is mandatory to ensure that students successfully earn high school credits in Math 1, English 1, and Spanish 1 at the end of their eighth-grade year. Admission into STEM Early High is application-based and open to scholars who expressed interest in science, math, engineering, and/or technology.
